DEFIANT Steve Cuss saw Wimborne Town slump to a third straight defeat before insisting: “We will get it right.”

Magpies were beaten 4-0 by North Leigh in Southern South & West yesterday as their goals against tally bulged to 14.

Kieran Sanders and Calum McNish put the visitors in command at the break and the latter doubled his tally with 17 minutes left, before substitute George Seacole rounded off an emphatic victory.

And although boss Cuss admitted his team had fallen well short at Cuthbury, he backed his players to quickly rediscover their best form.

Cuss told the Daily Echo: “There were no complaints from us as North Leigh are a good side and we were second-best. If we had been at our best then the game could have been tighter but the scoreline didn’t flatter them.

“We have to play better than that against the top teams in our division. North Leigh are one of the more attacking teams in the league and have a really good frontline and they really put us to the sword.

“It’s obviously a concern as you can’t let in four or five goals and expect to win.

“As a team, we have to defend better and everyone knows that. I will always back the players and they are working exceptionally hard to put it right, and I will continue to work with them to put that right.

“We have the majority of the squad that did well for us last season and for me it will be a matter of time before we get it right and start picking up results.

“I 100 per cent back the players that we’ve got – they are good enough for this level.”

Cuss vowed not to overreact to Wimborne’s disappointing start to the campaign and insisted that hard graft would pull his side out of their current predicament.

He added: “It’s highlighted more when you lose three games in a row at the start of the season. If you have a slump in mid-season when you have 30 or 40 points on the board then it doesn’t quite stand out so much.

“I won’t overreact to it at all. We had a spell last year where we were undefeated for 10 games in a row and you don’t get excited when that happens and equally you don’t panic when things start to go slightly wrong.

“The only thing we know how to do is to work hard in training and on matchdays and we will do everything to turn it round.”

Wimborne are set to be without Mark Gamble due to work commitments when they travel to Taunton on Tuesday (7.45pm).
