DEFENDER Neil Martin has completed a move from Poole Town to promotion rivals Weymouth on a free transfer.

As exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo six days ago, the left-back sought pastures new having lost his first-team place to ex-Cherries youngster Lewis Lindsay.

Martin, a target for the Terras when he signed for Poole in November 2013, was under contract at Tatnam but the club opted to sanction the switch rather than hold on to an unhappy player.

In a post on social media site Twitter, Martin wrote: “Want to say a big thank you to Poole Town, enjoyed my time there but things didn't work out.

“Delighted to have signed for Weymouth. Good things to come, can't wait to get started and start enjoying my football again.”

It is understood Martin’s former club Dorchester Town, now managed by ex-Dolphins defender Mark Jermyn, had also expressed an interest.
