HAMWORTHY United manager Shane Traynor admitted that killer instinct had proved the difference after Bemerton had triumphed 3-1 at the County Ground.
Goals from Scott Joyce (2) and Graham Mankin put the visitors 3-0 up before substitute Sam Carr nodded home a consolation.
Traynor praised the display of his players but conceded that they had got what they deserved from the Wessex Premier clash.
He told the Daily Echo: “Bemerton were more clinical in front of goal than we were.
“Their goalkeeper made two exceptional saves in one-on-one situations. They took their chances and we didn’t but I can’t fault the performance.
“It was quite an end-to-end game and they did a job and fair play to them. They deserved to win.”
Hammers: Ackerman, Walker, Corby, Legg, Cole (Rose, 80), Daysh, Hester, L Cook (Carr, 60), Penny, Horlock, R Cook. Unused subs: Miles, Benfield.
- Lamin Dibba and Connor Doe scored late consolation goals for Bournemouth Poppies in their 6-2 home defeat to AFC Portchester.
Lymington Town’s visit to Whitchurch United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The fixture has been rescheduled for March 4.
In Wessex One, Ringwood Town lost 1-0 at Laverstock & Ford while New Milton Town had no game.
