HAMWORTHY United picked up their first win in six-and-a-half weeks as they triumphed 3-0 at Fawley in the Sydenhams Premier.

Lewis Cook drilled the visitors in front in the 13th minute before Callum Charlton’s attempted cross fortuitously found the net.

Kane Daysh completed a straightforward victory when he sidefooted home in the closing stages of the second period.

Hammers boss Stewart Kearn said: “It was a thoroughly deserved victory. We had the bit between our teeth and played some good stuff in difficult conditions.

“It was nice to see that all three goals came from players who had recently been brought in. It proves we’re doing the right things.”

Hammers: Collins, Charlton, Cole, L Cook (Corby, 75), R Cook (Allen, 65), Daysh, Donachy, Horlock, Osborne (Rose, 65), Penny, Walker.

  • A goal from debutant Taylor Leonard proved little consolation for Bournemouth Poppies as they lost 4-1 at Alresford Town.

The winger came off the bench for the second half and scored within minutes of the restart to pull it back to 2-1, before Alresford steamed out of sight.

Poppies boss Ken Vaughan said: “The game should never have been played in the conditions but they adapted a lot better than we did. As the pitch cut up, the boys were trying to play football on their backsides.

“Alresford worked hard for what they got and we didn’t work hard enough. It could have been 10 or 12.”

Poppies: Vaughan, Menkveld (Leonard, h-t), Khider, Molyneaux, Dibba, Doe, Robinson, Bassiriki, Saul, Pekun, Ward.

  • In Division One, Ringwood secured a 3-1 win at Romsey. On the scoresheet for the visitors were Michael Johnston, Elliot Peck and Barney Gritt.
