DORSET remained in with a shot at victory against Herefordshire after a string of wickets fell late yesterday.

Five batsmen departed in the final 10 overs at North Perrott as Herefordshire faltered to 184 for nine, giving them a 136-run lead at the close.

Resuming 126 runs behind in the Unicorns Championship clash yesterday, Dorset were boosted by a superb partnership from Sam Thomson and skipper Chris Park which saw them move from 171 for six to 297 for seven.

Park’s troops eventually posted 307 in their 90 overs, Thomson finishing on 63 not out, while Park equalled the knock of 50 achieved by Mas Khan earlier in the innings.

Some 48 runs behind, Herefordshire were steady rather than spectacular, although Ed Pollock (67) proved a stubborn customer before wicket-keeper Park saw him off.

Tom Barber took a couple of late wickets, as did Thomson, giving Dorset plenty of hope for the final day and a potential second victory in Western Division this season.
