NEW Milton captain James Park hopes to banish the memory of June’s horror show against Basingstoke & North Hants by taking another step towards Division One glory.

Park and co are due to face the Bountymen in Hampshire tomorrow (1pm) having nine weeks ago been condemned to defeat by their rivals in 128 minutes – the shortest game in Southern Premier League history.

Leaders New Milton are due to play the rest of the current top four in their remaining games with a trip to Hook & Newnham Basics a week tomorrow followed by a home clash with Bournemouth.

Park told the Daily Echo: “We certainly have a point to prove against Basingstoke as they are the only side to beat us in the league so far this season.

“It was an embarrassing defeat and it’s not something I want people to notice on my CV for too long. We’re hoping to put one over them, that’s for sure.

“Come the end of the season, if we have won the league, I don’t think anyone will care less about the defeat in June.”

Unavailable last weekend, Park is due to return alongside Ben Lawes and Nick Gargaro. Will Crossley, Brad Currie and Mark House look set to make way.

  • Bournemouth travel to Division One rivals Andover (1pm) while, in the top flight, Bashley are at home to leaders South Wilts and Lymington face Hampshire Academy on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground (both 1pm).
