JUBILANT captain Chris Park hailed as "a fantastic performance" Dorset's seven-wicket win over neighbours Wiltshire.

The Dean Park side opened their pre-season campaign with a straightforward victory at Calne Cricket Club against the reigning Western Division champions.

Chasing 148 in the one-day clash, a knock of 63 from Jake Lintott helped the visitors reach their target inside 31 overs.

Earlier, Sam Thomson had taken four for 20 as Wiltshire's lower order had swiftly crumbled.

Park told the Daily Echo: "In the three games we played against Wiltshire last year, they demolished us, so I was expecting a tough friendly.

"They played Gloucestershire II on Sunday and won quite comfortably, and we played on the same pitch on Monday, which helped our spinners.

"The pitch was bowler-friendly and given that our batsmen knocked off the total inside 31 overs with just four wickets down, we had to be pleased.

"For our first run-out on grass, it was a fantastic performance and win."
