IN-form Winton walloped Corfe Mullen by a whopping 268 runs to keep the pressure on the top two in Division One.

Badral Alam (66) and Saturday skipper Ally Williams (28) got the hosts off to a strong start at King George V Playing Fields before Mike Kitson (117) added a superb century, which included no fewer than 12 fours and five towering sixes.

Sam Wynn’s side lost Charlie May, who was bowled by Corfe’s Sam Stroud (3-72) for a duck, before Sunjeeth Daini (66) got the innings back on track.

Ben Thompson (4-74) scattered the bails with all four of his wickets, but still couldn’t prevent Alex Proaline (29) and Charlie Van Wyk (28) from adding to Winton’s healthy total of 369 for eight.

Skipper Peter Hoar (29) led his side to 59 for the opening wicket alongside Richard Witherington (15) but once Corfe’s captain was dismissed by May (3-20), Witherington followed a scoreless Zeeshan Haider in walking with the visitors on 61 for three.

Stroud supplied 22 but the wickets continued to fall with Van Wyk (2-20) and Williams (2-7) tidying up the tail as Mullen managed a meagre 101.

Elsewhere, basement boys Cranborne moved within touching distance of Ferndown Wayfarers at the bottom by beating their nearest rivals by five wickets.

The hosts hit 237 for five in response to Ferndown’s 231 for nine.
