KEVIN Bond conceded that his side again paid the price for their defensive frailties as more mishaps gifted last night's game to Oldham.

Cherries were beaten 2-0 in windy Lancashire after handing the hosts a penalty either side of half-time, both of which were expertly converted by Latics skipper Neal Eardley.

The result means the struggling Dorset outfit are slipping ever closer to the League One trap door.

"I didn't think there was anything between the two teams," said boss Bond after the Boundary Park defeat.

"It was one of those nights where chances were few and far between.

"As has been the way for us too often this season, we gave them two penalties and gifted them the game."

The Cherries manager was disappointed with the way his side gave away both spot-kicks, the first from a Marvin Bartley push and the second following a foul by Josh Gowling.

He said: "The referee said it was a penalty and Marvin said it wasn't but he shouldn't be putting himself in the position where he might have to push someone in the back or try to make a recovery run.

"You give teams a massive leg-up. They didn't have to do anything to win the game.

"There were hardly any chances in the game and really it's been the story of how things are for us.

"If we could eradicate those silly sort of things, we'd have been an awful lot better off."

Bond added: "The most disappointing part is we're killing ourselves.

"It's not other teams opening us up, that's the most frustrating part."
