CHERRIES defender Nathan Ake played 90 minutes for the Netherlands as they overcame Portugal 3-0 in a friendly.

The Dorset club’s record signing, who was left out for the Dutch’s 1-0 defeat to England on Friday, came into the starting XI as Ronald Koeman secured his first victory as manager of the Oranje.

Lining up as one of three central defenders, the 23-year-old Ake won his sixth senior cap in Geneva.

Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Babel and Memphis Depay were on target for the visitors, while Portugal had Joao Cancelo sent off for two bookings.

Ake has featured in all 31 of Cherries’ Premier League games this season and has played an integral role in helping to club to 10th in the table.
