CHARLIE Daniels's stunning strike against Manchester City has earned the defender the Premier League's goal-of-the-month award for August.

The 31-year-old rifled an angled opener in off the bar from the corner of the box in the 2-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola's side at Vitality Stadium.

Daniels saw off competition from Liverpool's Sadio Mane – who had two goals nominated – Burnley's Stephen Ward, Stoke's Jese, Watford's Etienne Capoue, Chelsea's Marcos Alonso and Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy.

The winning goal was decided upon by a combination of a panel of top-flight experts and a public vote.
