TYRONE Mings admitted he may have made mistakes when it came to his use of social media and said he hoped to learn from his experiences.

Mings got himself in hot water when footage of him partying in Dublin – sporting a Gary Barlow face mask – did the rounds in May.

And following the end of the season, he stunned a group of Cherries fans when he turned up for a kickabout at Littledown after accepting a Twitter invite.

During his time at Ipswich, Mings hit the headlines for a series of selfless acts such as spending Christmas Day feeding the homeless, donating tickets to fans and paying to replace the replica shirts of supporters after his squad number had changed.

Mings told the Daily Echo: “There have been good and bad things but a lot more good than bad. People sometimes makes bigger stories of the bad things.

“We were training on Christmas Day at Ipswich and I had no family over. I was travelling to see them later in the day.

“I thought it would be a great thing to help some homeless people. Since then, I have done stuff every Christmas but kept it under the radar so the cynics in the media world wouldn’t turn it into a publicity stunt which is something I don’t want.

“It is always hard to prove the sincerity of things and I probably won’t do it now due to the amount of negativity which comes out of news stories because people can put whatever spin they want on things.

“I will try to keep things under the radar which is probably a bit of a contradiction because the Littledown football thing came from social media.

“It was a great evening. I probably wouldn’t do it again but, at the time, it was a fun thing to do and breaks away from the hysteria of footballers being out of touch with supporters. I enjoyed it and nobody got hurt.

“The Dublin thing was probably a little naive. You live and learn and there is no hiding place, especially when you stream it on your own social media.

“I am a 24-year-old guy. I will make mistakes throughout my career and I am not ashamed of that. As long as I learn from them.”
