SPECULATION Cherries have made a big-money bid for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray is understood to be wide of the mark.

Gray has repeatedly been linked with a move to the south coast and the 21-year-old has spoken to Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare about a lack of game time.

TEAMtalk today reported that Cherries had tabled a £20million offer for the England under-21 star – and similar stories were produced by a number of other media outlets – but the Daily Echo understands this is without substance.

Everton, Tottenham, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are rumoured suitors but Shakespeare insists Gray is happy at King Power Stadium.

Earlier this week, Gray’s representatives held talks with Foxes director of football Jon Rudkin about the wide man's future.

Shakespeare told the Leicester Mercury: “They (Gray’s representatives) came in to have a meeting with the director of football, I wasn’t privy to that.

“We’ve had conversations, myself and Dimi. It is well documented. We have spoken about trying to give him more game time and we are both happy with that.”

The Mercury also states there is no release clause in Gray’s contract, despite reports there was one of £22m.

Cherries reportedly had a series of bids rejected during the promising youngster's spell at Birmingham City, prior to signing for the Foxes.

Gray made 30 Premier League appearances last term, nine of which were starts.
