ADAM Smith says his intuitive on-pitch understanding with Junior Stanislas can prove a valuable asset for Cherries during the new campaign.

The right-sided duo were reunited to devastating effect for the final six games of last season after winger Stanislas had spent time on the sidelines nursing a groin injury.

Cherries were unbeaten in their closing five matches, with Stanislas on target in each of the last three.

Smith teed up the first of those goals in the 2-2 draw with Stoke and the pair dovetailed beautifully after rekindling a relationship that first caught fire in Cherries' debut Premier League season.

Stanislas had successful hernia surgery as soon as the season had finished and is being put through his paces at the club's training camp in Marbella this week.

Although his involvement in pre-season friendlies could be restricted, he is expected to be fully fit for the big kick off in August.

Smith, meanwhile, is eager to improve on a personally terrific 2016-17 season.

He told the Daily Echo: "I have a good relationship with Junior, on and off the pitch.

"When we play together, we help each other out and know what the other one wants to do.

"The way we look for each other and play one-twos is all down to instinct.

"We are on the same wavelength and have both been brought up to play football the right way.

"He helps me get forward as well so I really like playing with him and, hopefully, there is more to come next season."
