CHERRIES goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has admitted his first taste of an international tournament has been “an eye-opener”.

Ramsdale has played all three group games as England have booked a place in the semi-final of the UEFA Under-19 European Championship in Georgia.

He took to 10 his tally of caps for the under-19s in wins over Bulgaria, Netherlands and Germany – with the Young Lions meeting Czech Republic in the last four tomorrow.

The 19-year-old, who joined Cherries in an £800,000 move from Sheffield United in January, has conceded just once in the three games.

Asked about his first experience of a major tournament, Ramsdale (pictured) told the FA: “It’s been an eye-opener. You watch tournaments on television and only see one game every three days. But now when you’re living in it then there’s so much more you have to think about.

“Having to sleep and eat right to recover, you can’t have late nights because that ultimately affects the football. At this stage in the competition, you can’t let that affect you.”

Ramsdale will be hoping to help England’s men’s development teams protect a proud record. They have not lost a game in normal or extra-time this summer.
