BOSS Eddie Howe put the finishing touches to his fourth summer signing before hinting the majority of Cherries’ transfer business could be completed.

Talented young winger Connor Mahoney, who has been earmarked to start his Cherries career with the under-21s, penned a four-year deal after leaving Blackburn Rovers.

Cherries are trying to reach agreement with Rovers over a level of compensation for the 20-year-old who left Ewood Park following the expiry of his contract.

Mahoney joins Asmir Begovic, Jermain Defoe and Nathan Ake at Vitality Stadium with Howe having again moved swiftly and early to bolster his squad.

Begovic was unveiled at the end of May as Cherries’ first summer recruit, the goalkeeper signing from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, believed to have been around £10million.

Former Dean Court loan star Defoe last week completed his free transfer move from Sunderland, having previously agreed terms on a lucrative three-year deal.

And he was quickly followed by Ake who Cherries signed in a club record £20m deal from Chelsea, the Dutchman having impressed during the first half of last season.

Howe, asked by the Daily Echo whether there were more signings to come, replied: “Let’s wait and see. That doesn’t mean yes and it doesn’t mean no.”

And he added: “We have probably done our main transfer business and, as at now, there will be no further major signings. But, in this game, you just don’t know.”
