CHERRIES will take on Spanish giants Valencia in a pre-season clash at Vitality Stadium on Sunday, July 30.

The fixture is a repeat of last year's friendly meeting between the sides, when Benik Afobe cancelled out Argentine superstar Enzo Perez's goal to seal a 1-1 draw for Eddie Howe's men.

Valencia's disappointing recent league campaign has led to a speedy turnover of managers at Mestalla Stadium, where Gary Neville endured a miserable short-lived reign during the 2015-16 season.

Neville's successor Pako Ayestaran – who bossed the team on their previous visit to Dorset – was fired last September. Italian Cesare Prandelli then lasted three months in the post.

The club last month appointed ex-Villarreal manager Marcelo to replace caretaker Salvador Gonzalez, who steered Valencia to a 13th-place La Liga finish.

Perez's countryman, defender Ezequiel Garay is another big name in the Valencians' ranks, along with former Manchester United winger Nani, while Alvaro Negredo, the ex-Manchester City striker, has returned to the club following a loan spell with Middlesbrough.

The match will be played 24 hours after Cherries face QPR at the Championship club's Loftus Road home.
