RYAN Fraser is poised to win his first full international honours after being selected in Gordon Strachan's Scotland squad for matches against Canada and Slovenia.

Fraser's Cherries team-mate Harry Arter, meanwhile, has been named in a provisional 39-man Republic of Ireland squad for this month's crucial World Cup qualifier against Wales.

Strachan has previously been criticised for ignoring Fraser's claims, with the 23-year-old surging to prominence following a string of eye-catching performances for Eddie Howe's team this season.

The winger, who has scored three goals in 10 under-21 appearances for his country, will now have a chance to impress the Scotland boss first-hand.

Fraser is in a 30-man squad selected to host the Canadians in a friendly on March 22, with a World Cup qualifying match against Slovenia to follow at Hampden Park on March 26.

Arter made his competitive Irish bow when Martin O'Neill's team secured a 1-0 win in Austria last November.

The Republic play Wales at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Friday, March 24, before hosting England's Euro 2016 conquerors Iceland in a friendly four days later.

As exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo Arter will today undergo a scan on the calf he injured in Cherries' victory over West Ham on Saturday.
