CHERRIES have avoided an unwanted hat-trick of suspensions after Jason Tindall was cleared to keep his place in the dugout for tomorrow’s visit of West Ham.

Assistant manager Tindall was sent to the stands by blunder referee Kevin Friend during Cherries’ incident-packed 1-1 draw against Manchester United six days ago.

Tindall vented his fury at Friend as he left the pitch at half-time following an ambivalent first-half showing from the Leicestershire-based official.

Friend failed to spot Zlatan Ibrahimovic elbowing Cherries defender Tyrone Mings but then sent off Andrew Surman for a second yellow card after he had pushed the Sweden international.

Tindall’s gripe with the referee was over Surman’s first booking for a tackle on Luke Shaw, which was hard but perfectly fair.

However, although Tindall was banished from the technical area for the duration of the second half, he has escaped with a slap on the wrists.

A spokesperson for the Football Association confirmed Tindall had been “formally warned as to his future conduct” but added that there would be “no further charge to follow”.

However, Cherries will be impacted by the fallout from the stormy clash at Old Trafford with both Surman and Mings picking up bans.

Surman will serve a one-match suspension – the first of his career – against West Ham after collecting two bookings, while Mings was hit with a five-match retrospective ban following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Wednesday.

As well as sitting out against the Hammers, Mings will also be unavailable for Cherries’ Premier League showdowns with Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Tindall received a two-match touchline ban and was unable to take his place in the technical area for Cherries’ first two games in the Premier League last season after being charged with misconduct following a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday in April 2015.
