FANS’ favourite Yann Kermorgant revealed his lack of Premier League football at Cherries was the biggest disappointment of his career to date.
The striker racked up 15 goals as Cherries won the Championship last season but was limited to seven substitute appearances in the top flight before completing a move to Reading in January.
Kermorgant said: “I have had a tricky season because I had a really, really good season in the Championship with Bournemouth and got promoted but I was not really given a chance in the Premier League.
“For me, it was a big disappointment, maybe the biggest in my football career because I felt like I deserved it with what I’d done for them but it didn’t happen.
“Then, I signed for Reading and you need to get back the confidence you have lost in the first six months.
“Maybe that’s why I lacked confidence. I needed a few goals straightaway which didn’t come.
“After, you put pressure on yourself thinking ‘I have to score because they signed me for scoring goals’.
“You try to and when in one game you get four headers and two saved off the line, you think ‘what more can I do?’
“I’m sure that happens to every striker.”
