CHERRIES prospect Harry Cornick has been rewarded for his progress with a new contract.

Cornick, who joined Cherries from Wessex League Christchurch in January 2013, has penned fresh terms until June 2018.

The Poole Grammar School old boy is currently on loan to Yeovil and has netted six times to help the Glovers preserve their Football League status.

Cornick was invited to trial with Cherries after boss Eddie Howe had read about his exploits with Christchurch in the Daily Echo.

He was handed his first-team debut as a second-half substitute during Cherries’ FA Cup win at Rotherham in January 2015 and has also had loan spells with Aldershot, Welling and Havant & Waterlooville.

“I am delighted to sign my new deal,” said the 21-year-old winger.

“It’s been two-and-a-half years since the last one and all I’ve been doing is working hard to get to this point ever since I signed that.

"The aim now is finish strongly with Yeovil and get back to Bournemouth in the summer, keep myself fit, train and then take it step by step.

"Nobody has seen me train for a year so, hopefully, I will be able to show them just how much I have improved as a person and as a player in the past year.

“But it’s nice to know that, although I am playing my football away from Bournemouth, I am still being recognised and noticed,” added Cornick in an interview with the club website.
