CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe has thanked scout Des Taylor for his efforts and wished him well at new club Bristol City.

Taylor, who also worked with Howe at Burnley, has left Vitality Stadium to take up a new post at Ashton Gate.

He initially helped on a voluntary basis during Howe’s first spell with Cherries, combining his role with his full-time job as a fresh produce broker.

Taylor was made permanent during Lee Bradbury’s tenure but reunited with Howe at Turf Moor in July 2011.

Reporting to technical director Richard Hughes, Taylor’s responsibilities had included scouting players for the club’s development squad and from abroad.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “Des did some invaluable work recruiting for our development squad over the past few years and, for the past year or so, has mainly been recruiting abroad.

“I have been very fortunate during my time here to have some very good scouts in the recruitment team. That said, this was a great opportunity for Des to progress his career so we would like to wish him all the best for the future.”

Bristol City are restructuring their recruitment set-up following the departure of director of football Keith Burt last month.

Chief operating officer Mark Ashton has taken charge of transfer negotiations, while it has been reported that Taylor will head up their scouting network.

Meanwhile, Howe dismissed reports Roma were looking to recall Juan Iturbe from his loan spell with Cherries.

An article on the Football Italia website suggested Roma were hoping to cut short Iturbe’s stay at Vitality Stadium and loan him to River Plate.

But Howe told the Daily Echo that the 22-year-old would be remaining with Cherries for the rest of the season.
