EDDIE Howe is bracing himself for a “tough” January transfer window and insists he will not risk the club’s long-term financial future on a quick fix.

Boss Howe revealed he would have a “small amount” of money at his disposal as he looks to bolster his resources in the wake of Cherries’ crippling injury crisis.

But although he said replacing the likes of Callum Wilson and Max Gradel would be virtually impossible, Howe was adamant there would be no panic buys.

He told the Daily Echo: “We will have a sum of money but, relative to the Premier League, it will be a small amount and that is where we are going to have to do some good business, if any.

“People say you must be looking forward to January, thinking it is easy just to grab four or five players who are good enough to come and transform your season. Those players would cost millions and millions which we don’t have.

“It is going to be very difficult to get deals done that are effective for the club and that is why it is going to be a tough window for us.

“We are not going to over-react to the pressures on us to bring in players. It is not my way or the club’s way because that isn’t how we have had success. It is about developing the players we have and making them as good as they can be. If we can add one or two bits to make them stronger then great but there is no magic wand.

“Unfortunately, with the injuries we have suffered, to replace a Max Gradel or a Callum Wilson in the next window, I’m afraid those players don’t exist because everyone is in our position and you are not going to let you best players go.”

Howe, meanwhile, welcomed new investment from Chicago-based PEAK6 but said he did not think the deal would benefit the squad directly in January.

The American company last week completed the purchase of 25 per cent of Maxim Demin’s shareholding in the club.

Asked whether it would benefit him in January, Howe said: “I don’t think so in the sense that any fresh investment is going to come our way. Plans have been in place for a long time in terms of what we do and don’t have to play with.

“This is good news for the long term of the club. We have another investor and more powerful minds to add to Max’s. It is beneficial that we spread the load in terms of the investment that the club has to make going forward.

“I don’t think anything changes from my day-to-day workings and runnings. But rest assured from our supporters’ perspective it is all good going forward.”
