OUT-of-contract goalkeeper Ryan Allsop is expected to be offered a fresh 12-month deal at Cherries.

The 22-year-old, who spent the first half of last season on loan at League One outfit Coventry City, returned in January to fight for a new contract at Dean Court.

Allsop became one of the stars of the club’s promotion to the Championship in 2013 having been drafted in by boss Eddie Howe for the final 10 matches.

He kicked off the following campaign as number one but found first-team opportunities hard to come by after the signing of Lee Camp, initially on loan, from West Bromwich Albion.

A bout of glandular fever kept the former Leyton Orient man on the sidelines before being sent to the Sky Blues to get game time in July 2014. Allsop ended his half-season long loan having made 27 appearances for City.

In an interview with the Daily Echo in March, Allsop said: “It was my decision to come back. Coventry wanted to know what I had planned but I told them I saw my future at Bournemouth.

"I want to be here long-term so felt I needed to come back and show the manager how much I have progressed.

“Nothing gets handed to you in football, you have to work hard to impress so I thought it best to be here and get under the gaffer’s nose.”
