CHERRIES: Midfielder Andrew Surman cannot wait to return to Southampton with Cherries on the back of eclipsing his own achievements at St Mary’s.
Surman made 133 second-flight appearances for Saints having risen through the club’s youth ranks before switching to Wolves in 2009.
Southampton mustered a play-off appearance during that time but suffered relegation to League One two years later.
The 28-year-old went on to win promotion to the top flight with Norwich in 2011 but admitted this season’s title triumph had topped the lot.
Surman told the Daily Echo: “I had a great time at Southampton and almost made it through the play-offs but of course, the success here has been more enjoyable.
“It is great to see them doing so well and I am looking forward to going back there next season.
“I haven’t played at St Mary’s since I left so it will be one of the first fixtures I look out for and I am sure that will be the case for a lot of the supporters too. It is always good to test yourself against the top teams.”
