YANN Kermorgant was delighted when Cherries kicked his crystal ball into touch and saved his old man from enduring any last-day drama at former club Charlton.

As soon as the fixture computer churned out a Championship finale at the Valley, the Beast from Brittany had a premonition that Cherries' destiny could ride on getting a result from tomorrow's trip to the Valley (12.15pm).

The schedule prompted Kermorgant's parents, Jerome and Francoise, to pick out the 820-mile round trip as one of their opportunities to see their son in action.

But the 33-year-old, a crowd favourite with the Addicks prior to making the switch to Dean Court in January 2014, admitted he was happy to get Premier League football all but secured with Monday's 3-0 win over Bolton before the end-of-season showdown.

Kermorgant told the Daily Echo: "When I saw it was Charlton on the last day, for me it was a sign. I dreamed something great could happen on that day and that it could be meaningful.

"But once I had seen where we were, I thought we needed get promoted before that. I really did not want it to go to the last day because I knew my dad would be there and the nerves might have been too much. I would not have felt great either.

"My parents try come over as much as they can, probably once every couple of months. When the chance came (to all but seal promotion against Bolton) I really wanted us to take it.

"Now the last game can be exactly what I wanted. I can try to enjoy a family day with happy Bournemouth fans, and maybe a few happy Charlton fans as well because they were always very good to me."

But while the pressure of avoiding the lottery of the play-offs is as good as over, Kermorgant insists there will be no let up from Cherries with the Championship title still up for grabs.

Cherries trail Watford, who host Sheffield Wednesday in their final game, by a single point but have a superior goal difference and would surpass the Hornets with a better result.

"It will be more relaxed but that does not mean it will be played like a friendly game," said Kermorgant.

"We sometimes play our best football when we are relaxed and have a really good record away from home this season. We will be doing our best to bring back the title to make it more memorable for us, for everyone and for the fans.

"It would be the perfect way to finish. It is still hard to realise what we have achieved but we have had our celebrations now and have to go out there, win and hope for a good result at Watford."
