CHERRIES’ teenage defender Baily Cargill has retained his place in the England under-20 squad for an international friendly double-header.

The Young Lions face Mexico at Barnet’s Hive headquarters on Wednesday, March 25 before meeting USA at Plymouth’s Home Park four days later.

Cargill, who starred during Cherries’ League Cup campaign this season, was named yesterday in coach Aidy Boothroyd’s 22-strong squad.

The 19-year-old earned his first call-up for a friendly against Canada at Dean Court in November and netted on his debut in a 2-2 draw.

Cargill recently hit the comeback trail after recovering from a hip injury which saw him have treatment at the Villa Stuart Sport Clinic in Rome.

He featured in every round of the League Cup for Cherries, including the quarter-final defeat at the hands of eventual semi-finalists Liverpool.

Cargill, a product of the club’s youth ranks having been signed by Joe Roach during his first spell at the club, has also been an unused sub for Cherries in the Championship this season.

Fast-tracked to Eddie Howe’s first-team squad in the summer, Cargill made his Football League debut during a loan spell at Torquay last season.
