EUNAN O’Kane and Dan Gosling returned from injury as Cherries lost 3-1 at AFC Wimbledon in the Final Third Development League.

O’Kane and Gosling lined up alongside Ryan Allsop and Ian Harte as part of a strong side for Tuesday's fixture against the Dons.

England under-20 defender Baily Cargill also completed 70 minutes in his first match since January.

O’Kane and Gosling had both recently returned to training following ankle problems while Cargill had been troubled by a hip complaint.

Coach Stephen Purches told the Cherries website: “It gave those players the chance to get some minutes.

“You can’t beat playing and it was a chance for them to play competitive football.

“They were just as disappointed as everyone else with the result but performance-wise they were outstanding.

“Both Dan and Eunan played 90 minutes and came through it.

“It’s always great to have first team players involved in these games. It’s different to what they are used to with a bobbly pitch but their attitude was spot on.

“They were just disappointed not to get a result to capitalise on the good work they have done.”
