MANAGER Eddie Howe believes his excellent working relationship with owner Maxim Demin has been a key factor in Cherries’ push for the Premier League.

Howe maintains daily contact with Demin and says the Russian businessman’s support and level-headed approach have been fundamental to the club’s success.

Demin, who took full control at Dean Court in September 2013, was responsible for bringing back Howe and assistant Jason Tindall from Burnley in October 2012.

The 45-year-old, whose main residence is in Switzerland, handed them two-year contract extensions in March after they had overseen a dramatic revival which has gathered pace this season.

Asked by the Daily Echo what feedback he had received from Demin recently, Howe said: “He is always very level headed. I think people have a perception of owners being quite volatile but Max is the opposite of that.

“He is very level and, whether we win, lose or draw, he is always looking forward. He certainly doesn’t get too high when we win and there are no celebrations or pats on the back. It is very much a case of that is what is expected and, if we don’t win, he is very supportive.

“That is all you want when you are in my shoes. You want that support when things aren’t going well and to be left alone when they are.

“I really enjoy how he reacts to results because that is one of the big pitfalls that managers have. He is very level and is looking forward to the challenges that await us.”

Howe, who has been sounded out by at least three Premier League clubs since he returned to Dean Court, has always maintained he would be keen to help repay Demin’s commitment to Cherries.

And in an exclusive interview with the Daily Echo in January 2014, Howe hinted he would rebuff any job offers and said he had no plans to leave the club of his own accord.
