GOALKEEPER Ryan Allsop has returned to Cherries following the completion of his loan spell at Coventry City.
The stopper, who joined the Sky Blues at the start of the season, played the final match of his temporary stint in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Gillingham.
And Allsop, whose contract expires in the summer, revealed the prospect of earning a new deal with Cherries had been the driving factor behind his decision.
“I am a young goalkeeper and still learning the game but at the same time I think I need to go back to Bournemouth and try to progress there,” Allsop told the Coventry Telegraph.
“They are doing really well at the moment and I think I need to get in under the manager’s nose there and try to show him what I can do. I am out of contract in the summer so I’ve got six months left to show him how I have progressed.
“I spoke to Steve Ogrizovic (Coventry goalkeeper coach) and numerous people to get their advice about what’s the best thing for me to do.
“It has been a tough decision and I haven’t made it lightly but thought it would be the best thing for me at the moment (to return).”
