HARRY Arter revealed “a few honest words” from boss Eddie Howe had been behind Cherries’ improved second-half showing at Wolves.

Goals from Arter and Matt Ritchie saw Cherries cancel out Danny Graham’s first-half opener as Howe’s team climbed to third in the Championship.

Victory also went some way to erasing the memory of conceding leads in their past two home games when they were held to draws by Ipswich and Millwall.

Arter told the Daily Echo: “It was nice to turn the tables. We hadn’t been behind in a while and I felt we responded really well. For whatever reason, our first-half performance wasn’t like us.

"Football is never black and white and you don’t just turn up and perform every week. We learned that in the first half.

“I wouldn’t say they were harsh words from the manager at half-time, more just honest words and they were what we had needed.

"Even against 11 men, we had a different mentality in the second half. The manager doesn’t need harsh words because he knows he has an honest group.

"We didn’t perform well in the first half but that wasn’t down to a bad attitude or a lack of work rate.

“For whatever reason, things weren’t ticking and he gave us that confidence that sometimes you need. Half of this team got us promoted from League One and he has belief in the squad.

"Sometimes he tells us that and, in the second half, we repaid that belief.”
