Cornick on target as Cherries thump Rovers

CHRISTCHURCH prospect Harry Cornick came off the bench to score as Cherries thumped Bristol Rovers 4-1 in a friendly at Goldsands Stadium this afternoon.

Teenage winger Cornick, who is training with Eddie Howe's squad this week, slotted home Cherries' second goal late in the second half as a strong side eased past a Rovers XI.

Dutchman Frank Demouge tapped home from close range just before half-time to hand Cherries the lead, before Brett Pitman's penalty five minutes after the restart was saved.

Cornick, though, on for Steve Cook, blasted home on 72 minutes to double Cherries' advantage.

Jordan Chiedozie made it 3-0 nine minutes from time, before Rovers pulled a goal back through Elliot Richards.

But Lorenzo Davids was on hand to add Cherries' fourth deep into second-half stoppage time following good work from Demouge.

Well done Harry Cornick, hope you've done enough for Eddie to sign you up. Also it seemed as though it was a worthwhile run out for some of those on the sidelines, Demouge and Davids in particular. Maybe they will feature on Saturday....

In the whole run of things it would cost very little relatively to give a contract to Harry Cornick.
As an investment along with everything wlse we might get a very good return on it.

Well done Harry. Lets hope AFCB sign up this promising kid and also look after their little local neighbours Christchurch!

great work from young mr cornick today, first touch tracked back well to out muscle a b.rovers player, shielding the ball well and laying it back to partington at centre half, then his second touch was driving into the box after a lay off from mcdermott, taking a touch to beat the defender for pace on the outside and slamming the ball home in off the keeper

looked sharp, sign him up before anyone else does

If Hughes only lasted 10 minutes, looks like he will be out for another couple of months !!!!

Was impressed with Cornick's cameo appearance. I would sign him up.

It was a good team performance which is how a second string team should be playing. Bit worried about big Frank. He needs quite a few more games to get him match fit.

good 20 minutes show from cornick also thought young carmichael put in a shift playing in 3 different posistions and has been the best player on the pitch in the last 2 previous games i think demouge is not peforming very well maybe still not fit yet utciad

He seems to be a confident player. EH could sign him, then loan him back to Christchurch for the rest of the season. As for the Dutch pair - there's nothing better than a match to get match-fit. Now that the Reserves League has folded, opportunities seem limited, especially with the large squad we have.

This is the current reserve team competition albeit that it doesn't seem to be a structured league.
