EDDIE Howe is today expected to be unveiled as Cherries’ new manager – providing compensation can be agreed with current club Burnley.

The 34-year-old, who led Cherries to promotion in 2009, is set to return to the Dorset outfit along with assistant Jason Tindall.

News of Cherries’ interest in Howe was revealed exclusively by the Daily Echo just hours after the club had parted company with Paul Groves last week.

Groves was relieved of his post eight days ago with Howe immediately installed as the club’s number one target to replace him.

Cherries are understood to be trying to thrash out a compensation deal with Burnley, with an official approach for Howe believed to have already been made.

Howe left Cherries for Turf Moor in January 2011, signing a three-and-a-half year deal. He took with him Tindall and fitness coach Jon Dalzell, while backroom staff Jason Blake and Des Taylor later followed.

His anticipated return, together with Tindall and any other members of staff, would almost certainly see Burnley demand a hefty compensation package, notwithstanding anything which may be outstanding from when Howe left.

However, the figure could be offset by funds apparently owed to Cherries by the Clarets following the respective sales of Marvin Bartley and Danny Ings.
