CHRISTCHURCH Rowing Club struck double gold at the South Coast Junior Regatta in Bideford.

The club’s British gold medallist Matt Aldridge was the first rower from their 14-strong squad to land a title in the J16s, winning by four lengths.

Team-mates Richard Quinn and Charlie Longman were the next to master the River Torridge course in the J14 doubles.

Their victory margin was three lengths ahead of second-placed Plymouth Rowing Club.

Quinn also won silver in the single J14s race.

There were silvers too for Christchurch’s Issy Booth (J16s) and Hattie Clements and Charlotte Cordery (J16 doubles).

Completing the medal haul with bronzes were Liberty Booth (J14s) and Sam Honeyman and Michael Hart (J16 doubles).

Members also competed in the senior event on the previous day.
