REDHILL Rangers under-12s gave Justin Murry his first win as manager when they edged to a 3-2 triumph over Grange Athletic.

Goals from Ben Dear and Boris Jerzak saw Rangers claim a 2-0 lead during an even first half before Levi Collins reduced the arrears on the stroke of half-time.

Adam Muncaster equalised midway through the second period, only for Redhill to hit back almost immediately when Ben Dear bagged his second and their third to complete the scoring. Rangers manager Justin Murry said: “Being my first game as manager after moving up from assistant, I was delighted with my team’s work-rate and application.

“Before the match, I had asked the players to repeat the effort, commitment and fluid football shown in our last game when we progressed to the second round of the Hampshire Cup.

“The team responded by doing everything asked of them, scoring three well-worked goals and defending as a unit when under pressure.”

Grange boss Paul Heselden said: “Opening exchanges were quite even with play up and down the pitch. A quick Redhill break saw them take the lead. The teams took it in turns to attack with Redhill going two up after beating the offside trap.

“We then started to dominate and scored just before half-time. We dominated in the second half with Redhill looking dangerous on the counter-attack. We equalised midway through the half but Redhill scored from the restart. We continued to push on but failed to find the equaliser.”
