DORSET boys champion Oliver Stocks rewrote the county history books with a double success at Broadstone.

The Dudsbury star is the first player to hold both the under-16 and boys titles at the same time.

Stocks carded rounds of 74 and 75 for a nine-over-par total to win both championships at the Wentworth Drive course.

He finished two shots clear of first-round leader George Long (Parkstone) and a further shot ahead of home favourite Billy-Joe Bugden.

Long’s first-round 71 won him the Weymouth Cup for the lowest score of the morning. He lost top spot, however, with an 80 in the swirling wind after lunch.

The four-handicapper also claimed the team prize with Parkstone pals Tom Atkins and George Davis with a 10-over-par total.

They finished one shot clear of the Ferndown trio of Fraser Dawson, Dominic Knight and Harry Mann.

The Parkstone trio will represent Dorset at the EGU Champion Club event at Woodhall Spa.

There was a field of 43 players for the Dorset Boys Champion-ship. The cut came at 86 with 24 players in the final round.

Two of the Dorset under-14 team Sam Russell (Ashley Wood) and Davis (Parkstone) returned respectable rounds of 79.

Top six: Oliver Stocks (Dudsbury) 74, 75 = 149, George Long (Parkstone) 71, 80 = 151, Billy-Joe Bugden (Broadstone) 75, 77 = 152, Dominic Knight (Ferndown) 74, 79 = 153, Harry Mann (Ferndown) 77, 77 = 154, Thomas Oliver (Broadstone) 79, 79 = 158.
