ACE marksman Ben Osborne is determined to finish his productive season with a flourish – by firing Christchurch to a cup double.

The 30-goal frontman will be bidding to help Priory complete the first phase of their knockout quest in tonight’s Russell-Cotes Cup final against Bemerton Heath at Hurn Bridge (7.45pm).

Bank manager Osborne has been a key figure in Christchurch’s progress this term, contributing to a club-best points tally in the Wessex Premier.

The striker is hoping Graham Kemp’s men can make home advantage tell this evening as they aim to get one trophy safely in the cabinet before next month’s Wessex League Cup final against Brockenhurst.

Osborne, 30, told the Daily Echo: “The two goals I scored on Saturday took me to 30 for the season. Hopefully, I can finish on a high now. “We are looking forward to the final, especially on our own pitch. Bemerton are a good side but we are confident.

“Our home form has always been our strongest so we see that as a slight advantage. But on a nice pitch, it always gives the other team a chance to play as well.”

Previewing the Bemerton clash, Christchurch manager Kemp said: “They are the second best team in the Wessex League so it is going to be tough. They have been up there for the past four years and I think they will start as favourites.

“But we have taken four points from six against them this season, so we won’t go in there with any fear. We play our pitch well and have had some good results in midweek home matches – that is when the lads perform at their best.”

Defender Shaun Brian, who is dual registered with Wimborne Town, and midfielder Callum Burt come into the Christchurch squad.
