MILES Addison rescued a point for Cherries and helped Lee Bradbury’s men stop the rot thanks to a 1-1 draw with play-off chasing Carlisle today.

The Derby County loan man popped up with an equaliser seven minutes from time as Cherries stopped the rot following five defeats on the trot.

His effort cancelled out Lee Miller’s fourth-minute opener for Carlisle and earned Cherries a deserved share of the spoils at Seward Stadium.

Carlisle raced into an early lead, the visitors netting their first away league goal since the turn of the year courtesy of leading marksman Lee Miller.

Miller finished emphatically into the roof of the net after Chris Chantler had headed Jon-Paul McGovern’s half-cleared corner back into the danger zone.

As the Cumbrians made most of the early running, James Berrett tried his luck from distance, his effort flashing past the upright after 10 minutes.

Donal McDermott fashioned Cherries’ first shooting chance after 14 minutes, the Irishman’s effort from 20 yards fizzing past the post.

Cherries went close to drawing level when Steve Cook’s header from Marc Pugh’s 26th-minute corner was cleared off the line by Carlisle defender Chantler.

The hosts should have at least tested visiting goalkeeper Adam Collin when another Pugh corner fell to Charlie Daniels. But after what seemed like an age to pick his spot, the defender lashed his shot wide.

Cherries goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan raced off his line to beat Francois Zoko to Chantler’s lofted pass before Collin saved from a Miles Addison header on the stroke of half-time.

Wes Thomas was sent clear on goal by Shaun MacDonald’s pass early in the second half, only for the striker to over-run the ball and into the hands of Collin.

A double substitution midway through the second period saw Harry Arter and Scott Malone replace Shaun Cooper and Wes Fogden.

Thomas, booked for a foul on Tom Taiwo, took aim with a hopeful volley after 70 minutes, his effort failing to trouble Collin.

Cherries had a penalty appeal waved away after Stockley had gone to ground under a challenge from Taiwo before Cook headed into the arms of Collin.

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott was banished from the dugout following a spat with Cherries manager Bradbury, the pair exchanging words after Liam Noble and Arter had clashed.

Cherries were rewarded for a sustained spell of pressure when Addison arrived at the far post to head home Pugh’s corner to level seven minutes from time.

The Derby County loan man immediately headed to the technical area where he celebrated with under-fire Cherries boss Bradbury.

Arter, who spent time on loan with Carlisle last season, almost snatched a dramatic winner when his blistering effort just cleared the crossbar in the dying seconds.
