Dolphins manager Tom Killick is confident new boy Alex Baldacchino will provide his promotion contenders with a fresh attacking option.

Poole Town sealed the striker’s signature on Thursday as Killick moved to bolster his Tatnam squad ahead of the Southern League Division One South & West run-in.

Havant & Waterlooville frontman Baldacchino arrives at the Dorset club on a dual registration basis after impressing in the Wessex League with New Milton Town, where he is also dual registered.

Baldacchino will play in Linnets’ home game against Alresford Town today before linking up with Poole next week.

Dubbed ‘Super Al’ at Fawcett’s Field, Baldacchino appeared on Killick’s radar after netting 27 league goals in 32 starts for Milton this term.

Killick confirmed he had discussed the deal with counterparts Glenn Burnett and Shaun Gale and reported that the Havant & Waterlooville boss had no objections to Baldacchino joining Poole for the rest of the campaign, prior to heading back to Hawks for pre-season.

The Dolphins manager told the Daily Echo: “Alex was keen to give it a go.

“I haven’t seen a lot of him – I have only seen him once – but his goal record is great and he is very bright and lively. I have had good reports on him from other people.”

Killick believes Baldacchino will offer his play-off hopefuls an alternative to current Dolphins forwards Dan Cann, Scott Joyce and Steve Smith.

He added: “We want to give ourselves as much chance as possible of remaining in the play-off positions.

“I always like to have four strikers and I only had three. Alex is quite different to those three and it gives everyone a bit of a lift to see new players at this stage of the season.”
