MATHIEU Baudry has been handed a chance to earn a new contract with Cherries after being loaned to League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge.

Baudry, whose existing deal at Seward Stadium is due to expire at the end of the season, is in line to make his debut when Daggers host Northampton Town tonight.

The 24-year-old Frenchman will spend at least five weeks with the east London outfit, although the move could be extended ahead of the loan window closing later this month.

Baudry, who returned to full training last month after being plagued by persistent hamstring problems, has been restricted to just nine appearances this season.

“He’s a strong competitor which is something we need,” Daggers boss John Still told the club website.

“He is a centre-half and we have no competition at the moment in that area.”

Baudry, who penned a one-year contract in the summer, was an unused substitute during Cherries’ 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cherries boss Lee Bradbury is confident midfielder Harry Arter will be fit for the visit of Carlisle in four days’ time.

Arter missed the trip to Hillsborough due to a back problem but is set to return to training today.

Cherries host Football Combination rivals Forest Green Rovers at New Milton Town’s Fawcett’s Field headquarters today (2pm).
