MANAGER Steve Riley insists Bashley still have plenty to play for ahead of their meeting with Southern League leaders Brackley Town.

Bash are hovering in mid-table and stand 11 points clear of the Premier Division drop zone and 13 adrift of the play-off places.

Riley last week bolstered his squad with the loan signings of Cherries defender Dan Strugnell and Bashley goalscoring legend Richard Gillespie.

And the Bash boss is refusing to rule out a late-season charge. Previewing the home clash with Brackley tomorrow (3pm), Riley told the Daily Echo: “We will try our best to make sure we don’t get sucked into a dog-fight.

“And if the teams above us drop points and we put together a run, who knows where we could be?

“Teams in the past have been in this situation and come from nowhere.”

Brackley will arrive at the Recreation Ground boasting a squad packed with former professionals. Riley added: “I think they are favourites to win the league and rightly so. If we are going to get any points, we have got to be at our very best.”

• Division One South & West outfit Wimborne Town visit Abingdon United boosted by the news that Jordan Cole has signed a contract until the end of next season.

Magpies manager Steve Cuss said: “Jordan is a player I very much like. He has adjusted well to the Southern League and is progressing really well. I wanted to give him a little bit of security to keep developing and also to keep him with us while we develop the squad.”
