A REMARKABLE run of six consecutive daughters born to Poole Town members has led to the club’s first girls’ title.

The proud fathers have watched their girls grow up together and form a championship-winning team.

The Poole Town Cricket Club under-11 girls’ team were recently crowned East Dorset Indoor League champions.

Eleven years ago long-standing Poole Town member Phil Eades and his wife, Sarah, celebrated the birth of a daughter Victoria.

Within a year, chairman Pete Dooker and his wife Jacqui welcomed Lilian to the world.

And within a two-week period, three other club members had baby daughters.

Nick and Heather Williams had Lizzie, while Julian and Caroline Boyd had Jessica.

The other couple painting the nursery pink were Steve and Debbie Matthews following the arrival of Sarah Louise.

And two years later, Pete and Jacqui provided Lilian with a sister, Charlotte.

Remarkably the dads of Poole Town Cricket Club had produced six girls in a row.

Eight years after the birth of Charlotte, the club is now celebrating its first girls’ silverware.

The squad of seven included all six of the girls born to club members between 2001 and 2004 plus Natalie Ashford.

The under-11 girls will also be playing in the summer league but face a new challenge.

Matches in the summer are eight-a-side so the squad needs to find at least two or three more players to fulfil its fixtures.
