MINI marvel Shea Wylie kick-started his British Auto 50cc Championship bid with a top-six finish in this season’s opener.

The eight-year-old placed fourth in the Ringwood Motocross Club’s curtain-raiser at Tincleton near Dorchester.

Shea, who attends Talbot Combined School, was competing in the Auto 50cc race which was won by ‘visitor’ Harvey James.

Parkstone prospect Shea was the highest-placed finisher from East Dorset.

The top six club finishers, after 10 meetings, qualify for the national championship.

Ringwood Motocross Club stage round two of the 2012 Club Championship Series and MCF Grand Slam Qualifiers on Sunday at Holmsleigh Farm, Monkton, Honiton.

Current 2012 MCF licence holders are welcome to book in and will not be charged any visiting fees. Non MCF licence holders will also be welcome and a day licence can be purchased on the morning for £10.
