JAMES Mikolajewski played a starring role as Wimborne claimed a narrow 25-19 victory at Southern Counties South rivals Melksham.

Mikolajewski registered two tries, a conversion and a penalty as Wimborne emerged victorious after withstanding a stirring fight-back from the Wiltshire outfit.

Marcus Atkins and Jim Brokenshire also crashed over for tries in the victory.

• Ellingham & Ringwood held their nerve to secure a 32-26 triumph over London Three South West rivals Purley John Fisher at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground.

Although veteran fly-half Andy Weeks kicked two penalties, Es found themselves trailing 19-6 at the break.

However, another Weeks penalty, and a Charlie Cockram try, sparked a third quarter of dominance from the hosts, capped when James Bovett went over for another touch down.

Weeks (penalty) and Dan Stewart (try) gave the hosts a 32-19 lead with Ellingham holding out to secure a fifth consecutive league victory.

• A try from Matt Roberts, coupled with Charlie Parrish’s conversion and drop goal, was all Swanage & Wareham had to show from their 64-10 drubbing by South West One East high-fliers Salisbury at Bestwell.
