BOSS Lee Bradbury has hinted he may consider complementing Cherries’ beauty in midfield with a beast – man mountain Miles Addison.

The 23-year-old loan recruit from Derby is in contention to make his debut when Cherries host League One play-off rivals MK Dons tomorrow (3pm).

Addison, who stands 6ft 3ins tall and weighs-in at around 14 stones, is equally as comfortable operating in central midfield as he is in central defence.

And while Addison could replace injured centre-back Steve Cook against the Dons, Bradbury also has the option to utilise him in the Cherries engine room.

Addison, who will see out the season at Seward Stadium, has made 65 appearances for Derby and 13 during a loan spell with Barnsley – all in the top two divisions.

Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “Miles is a big, strong lad who likes a tackle. He likes to get involved and is a combative player. He is also very versatile.

“We are going to need some defensive cover with Steve Cook out for two to three weeks and Miles can do a job in there. He has also played a number of games in the Championship in midfield and it might be that we will play him there if we need to.”

Bradbury lost tough-tackling midfielder Marvin Bartley to Burnley just days after he had taken over as Cherries boss in January 2011 before Anton Robinson departed for Huddersfield in the summer.

While the absence of a suitable replacement failed to prevent Cherries from enjoying a mid-season revival, some supporters feel a lack of steel could hinder the club’s play-off push.

Bradbury, who has seen Cherries collect just one point from their past three games, said: “It is easy to pick up on it when things aren’t going well. If you lose a couple of games, people are always going to pick holes in your team.

“I pride us on playing good football and, if we keep the ball, we won’t need to tackle anyone. If we keep the ball and pass it like I know we can, we will cause problems for other teams.

“On the flip side, sometimes you need someone to impose themselves on the opposition and to do the ugly stuff. We are fortunate to have some very creative midfielders.

“Steven Gregory makes passes and is a very good footballer, a similar player to Shaun Cooper. Harry Arter and Shaun MacDonald are both very creative on the ball and tidy footballers.

“You probably wouldn’t class any of them as natural box-to-box ball winners and Joe Partington, who you would, is currently out injured.

“There is scope for Miles to fulfil that role and I have got one eye on it. He is going to be a good addition to the squad. He can mix it and is an ideal signing for us.”
