Cherries duo Stephane Zubar and Wes Fogden have been rewarded for their endeavours with improved contracts.

The pair, who have both played a part in Cherries’ mid-season revival, have agreed terms on new three-and-a-half year deals.

Zubar has turned in a series of impressive displays at the heart of the Cherries defence and has become a firm favourite with the Seward Stadium faithful.

The 25-year-old Guadeloupe international has netted once in 19 appearances since joining Cherries as a free agent in September after leaving Plymouth.

Zubar, who initially penned a deal until the end of the season, has come to the fore since stepping in for injured skipper Adam Barrett.

Non-league find Fogden was unearthed at Havant & Waterlooville and has bridged the gap between Conference South and League One with a succession of energetic displays.

The 23-year-old, who dropped into non-league after failing to make the grade at Brighton, has seized his second chance in the pro ranks with both hands.

Fogden, who is currently nursing a shoulder injury, has netted twice in 17 league appearances and has shown his versatility by operating in several different positions, Cherries boss Lee Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “They have both worked very hard and deserve their new contracts.

“Stephane has come into the team and done very well. He has taken Adam Barrett’s place and done a good job.

“We have had some good results recently and he has been a massive part of that. He has been rewarded for his hard work, both on the training ground and on the pitch.

“Wes came to us from non-league and it was a big jump. But he has taken to it like a duck to water. He is a winner and his work-rate and desire are there for everyone to see.

“He is a fantastic pro and a great lad to have around. I like to reward hard work and he has certainly worked hard. He deserves rewarding for his attitude.”

Fogden, who recently returned to training after recovering from a leg injury, suffered a minor setback last week when he hurt his shoulder.

And he was joined on the treatment table by luckless midfielder Mark Molesley who went over on his ankle in training on Tuesday.

Bradbury said: “Wes went over on his shoulder on Thursday and felt it again during a shoulder barge in training earlier this week. He is being assessed by our medical team.

“Mark went over on his ankle on the slippery surface and may have suffered a bit of ligament damage. We will wait until the swelling goes down to see if we need to get it scanned.”
