REMEDY Oak star Georgia Hall is hoping to lock horns with the Americans on two occasions this year, kicking off with the Curtis Cup.

The 15-year-old Oakmead School pupil has been named as first reserve for Great Britain & Ireland’s preliminary squad for the match against the United States at Nairn Golf Club, Scotland, between June 8-10.

Georgia has also set her sights on selection for the European team to play in the Junior Ryder Cup at Medinah in Illinois, USA, between September 25-30.

The squad for the 37th Curtis Cup, meanwhile, takes part in a three-day team trial over Nairn’s championship links course between March 23-25.

Players will come under the scrutiny of team captain Tegwen Matthews and the LGU (Ladies Golf Union) selection panel before the final team and reserves are announced on Tuesday, March 27.

“It would be great to play in both, but I am relying on one of the main squad members to drop out for the Curtis Cup,” explained Georgia.

“My big target is the Ryder Cup in Illinois. To get in I will need to be a captain’s pick or finish in the top two at the European Masters in Hungary.”

Georgia was top points scorer for the Great Britain & Ireland under-16s team that lost 6½ to 2½ against The Continent of Europe at Royal Porthcawl last summer.

Among the 12-strong Curtis Cup squad is 17-year-old Lauren Taylor, who won the BBC Young Sports Personality of 2011.

Lauren, of Woburn Golf Club, became the youngest ever winner of the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship (first played in 1893) at Royal Portrush last June, aged just 16.

Georgia, meanwhile, is the youngest ever qualifier at the British ladies amateur open.

She also won the English Girls Championship in 2010 and has won national titles at under-13 and under-15 levels.

Great Britain & Ireland have not won the Curtis Cup since 1996, losing all seven of the matches since.

Georgia’s season starts with the Sunningdale Foursomes between March 13-16, followed by a pack-ed summer programme which will include the Girls’ British Open Amateur Championship at Tenby (August 13-17).

Great Britain & Ireland preliminary squad for Curtis Cup: Amy Boulden (Conwy), Holly Cyburn (Woodhall Spa), Charley Hull (Woburn), Bronte Law (Bramhall), Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell), Lisa Maguire (Slieve Russell), Becky Harries (Haverfordwest), Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle), Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale), Stephanie Meadow (Royal Portrush), Lauren Taylor (Woburn).
