BOSS Glenn Burnett revealed he had secured the services of Alex Baldacchino until the end of the season – then set his sights on extending the deal.

The goalscoring sensation is on loan at New Milton Town from Conference South outfit Havant & Waterlooville.

Linnets manager Burnett is a big fan of Baldacchino – having seen the talented striker net 23 goals in 28 Wessex League starts this season, prior to last night’s scheduled game at Totton & Eling.

Burnett confirmed the prolific frontman – known as Super Al at Fawcett’s Field – had agreed to stay for the rest of the campaign.

And Burnett is refusing to rule out the prospect of keeping Baldacchino for longer – although the final call will be made by Havant boss Shaun Gale.

Burnett, who has boosted Milton’s fortunes since taking charge in September, told the Daily Echo: "When we arrived at the club, we noticed Alex had been on the bench for the first game of the season against Laverstock & Ford.

"But once we had seen him play, we realised what quality he had.

"We have got him until the end of the season and maybe beyond, but we have to talk to Shaun Gale (Havant & Waterlooville manager) about that."
