PROLIFIC Cherries striker Wes Thomas is aiming high as he looks to maintain his rich vein of goalscoring form.

Thomas has plundered 10 goals in 19 starts since stepping into League One for the first time in his career in September.

The 24-year-old, whose loan move from Crawley was made permanent last month, has been a key figure in Cherries’ push for the play-offs.

Thomas earned a move to Crawley after netting 19 times for Cheltenham last season – and has set his sights on going at least one better for Cherries.

He told the Daily Echo: “I would have been disappointed if I hadn’t scored 10 by now. I think I can get another 10 and that is what I am looking to do. I scored 10 in my first 19 games and am confident I can get another 10 in the next 18.

“I feel I have done fairly well since I came here and have just got to keep it going. I certainly won’t be resting on my laurels. You can only do as well as you can and I feel I am giving 100 per cent all the time.

“Reaching the play-offs is still the aim and I don’t see why we can’t do it. We dropped points against Chesterfield but I am sure Stevenage, Carlisle and MK Dons won’t go unbeaten between now and the end of the season. We have got to make sure we drop fewer points than our rivals and see where it takes us.”

Thomas is expected to reunite with his former Crawley team-mate Matt Tubbs when Cherries host struggling Exeter City tomorrow.
