TOM Killick is hopeful new Yeovil boss Gary Johnson will embrace the League One club’s links with Poole Town.

Johnson was yesterday confirmed as the Huish Park outfit’s new manager, with former boss Terry Skiverton becoming the Londoner’s new assistant.

Killick has benefited from a fruitful relationship with the Somerset side, with the Dolphins boss currently boasting Glovers defender Rhys Baggridge on loan.

Winger Lewis Clarke also enjoyed a four-game loan spell with Dolphins earlier this season, while the Glovers have visited Tatnam during the past two pre-season campaigns.

Killick, whose side host Cinderford Town in Southern League Division One South & West tonight (7.45pm), told the Echo: “I dealt with Gary Johnson when he was at Yeovil before and I was at Salisbury and he lent me a couple of players then. He was always really kind to me.

“When I was at Salisbury, we were struggling financially and Gary agreed to bring a Yeovil side down for pre-season. But I got the sack and Gary phoned me up and asked me if he should come because he thought it was a disgrace that I had been fired. I always got on well with him.

“Rhys’s loan is up next Saturday and they were up for extending it, but I suppose Gary might want Rhys back so he can take a look at the whole squad down there. We will have to see.”

Pete Smith is unavailable for Dolphins tonight, but dual-registered Kane Daysh could feature depending on his commitments with Wessex League outfit Bournemouth Poppies.

• Southern League strugglers Wimborne Town could increase the gap between themselves and bottom-placed Stourport Swifts to 10 points tonight.

Magpies visit lowly Didcot Town in Division One South & West knowing a victory would create some much needed breathing space between them and the single relegation berth.

Boss Steve Cuss has drafted Carl Chivers and Marcus Cullen into his squad for the trip to Oxfordshire, with goalkeeper Jason Harvell suspended and Tom Hill having returned to Bashley following a loan spell.

Dan Ackerman is likely to replace Harvell, with Jason Collins stepping up as cover.

Magpies: (from) Ackerman, Arnold, Cole, Roast, Jamison, Peprah-Annan, Webb, Cook, Kemble, Davidson, Wignall, Cream, Magookin, Jeffes, Chivers, Cullen, Collins (gk).

• In the Wessex League Cup, Bournemouth Poppies host Premier Division leaders Bemerton (7.45pm), while resurgent New Milton Town travel to Romsey Town.
